Tweens and Fashion Week, Part One - Tween Fashion Blogger Tavi

Does your tween love fashion? Is she following New York Fashion Week? Well, one precocious tween has been. True fashionistas will know her name, and she's enjoyed massive press since her springing onto the scene with her very well-written blog, Style Rookie. Tavi Gevinson is all of 13 years old, and she has been invited to her SECOND New York Fashion Week already and has been featured in a myriad of fashion magazines. Designers love her, including Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Yohji Yamamoto, and many more, and place her in the front row. She is invited to the after parties, but famously makes a polite appearance at these only to quickly disappear explaining that she is only 13 and can't really be in bars.

Her parents have clearly done a beautiful job raising this young lady who has proved herself polite, bright, and fearless. There are many who have dismissed her, claiming that her blog must be written by others or saying that a 13-year old cannot possibly have a valid point of view on fashion, but Ms. Gevinson has taken the high road and not stooped to their level or backed down from writing her blog. This is not a new endeavor - she's been writing her blog for two years. I encourage you to read her blog for yourself - we were impressed by both the writing and the analogies she draws between the design influences, the clothes, and everyday life.
