The Power of Youth, Covered by Variety

Variety magazine, arbiter of all things Hollywood, held it's 3rd Annual Power of Youth event this weekend in L.A. The event honors up-and-coming kid stars who harness their celebrity power to put a spotlight on charity causes. It's nice to see stars doing good - even nicer to see them starting young to do it.
2009 honorees were:
- Corbin Bleu for his support of the Starlight Foundation
- Miranda Cosgrove for her support of St. Jude's Research Hospital
- Jesse McCartney for his support of City of Hope
- Annalynde McCord for her support of the Blind Project
- Keke Palmer for her support of the Boys and Girls Clubs

The Latest From Miley on Being a Role Model, the End of Hannah Montana (?), and Twitter

The tween star performed at the Concert for Hope to benefit City of Hope (a leading cancer research hospital and long-time favorite charity of the Cyrus clan) in Los Angeles yesterday. Miley Cyrus was joined by fellow Disney tween queen Demi Lovato and tween heart-throb Jesse McCartney in headlining the event.

Before the show Ms. Cyrus field questions from Tiger Beat reporters about the future of Hannah Montana, the responsibility she feels to be a positive role model in both behavior and dress for her younger sister, Noah Cyrus, and why she quit Twitter. Give a listen to the video below - this young woman offered thoughtful responses and a refreshingly positive perspective on her responsibility to her fans and her family.

A Lesson For Tweens: Umm, No - I'm Pretty Sure It's Fotoshop

January is for resolutions, and for many this includes renewed efforts to work out, look good, etc. This video comes at an opportune time as our tweens (and everyone else) see the magazine covers everywhere this month. As the video's creator says, "This commercial isn't real,  neither are society's standards of beauty." Our YouTube-obsessed tweens gave it their stamp of cool.
