Sasha and Malia Obama's Father's Day Gift!
First Tweens Sasha and Malia Obama are in L.A. this week, and last night they attended Game 6 of the NBA Finals. At the game they got an L.A. Lakers jersey customized with "Obama" on the back and Lakers Coach Phil Jackson then signed it! Pretty cool.
What we loved about this gift was less its exclusiveness and more that the girls found a gift that took something their dad loves as a hobby (President Obama is a HUGE basketball fan - and he plays too) and then gave it a personal twist. What are YOUR ideas for Father's Day gifts this year? MsTwixt and tweens are prepping our annual tradition: framed photos for his desk with photo mats that the kids have customized for him - tell us your ideas!

DC-Inspired Cupcake Design - Yum!
You and your tween will love this: cupcake design inspired by Washington, DC - you have GOT TO see the photos! Hello Cupcake in Dupont Circle just sponsored the contest. The Grand Prize Winner and voted Most Likely To Be Eaten was inspired by Chinatown, but our favorite is the DC Metro Map cupcake (also voted Best Use of Fondant). More details in our newspaper column.

Rawther Lovely: Eloise Parties Are Back at the Plaza Hotel
After being closed for a $6 million renovation, the Plaza Hotel in New York is back and has restored an Eloise-themed boutique, menu and more at the hotel. (We wrote earlier about the special Eloise suite.)
From their website: "There is a lot of fun, and always so much to do at the shop. Guests who skibble in may relax in the stylish living room, and plan their (mis)adventures with the concierge, just like a certain young lady. In the Fashion Room there is absolutely nothing but costumes for dress up, so mini-Eloises can model their favorite looks from the podium. Sklonking off to the Library Room, guests may enjoy “park views” and watch their favorite Eloise movie clips, play on the computer stations or enjoy story time with their mostly companion. Of course, fans can’t leave without a visit to the Tea Room where family and friends can come together for tea and birthday parties and other celebrations. A visit to the Beauty Salon rounds out a day of living like Eloise, and in Spring 2010, tea and birthday parties, beauty salon service and etiquette classes will be available too, thank you very much"
How fun! Parties come with a Manhattan price tag: party packages cost $500 - $750 for 8 girls.
The Plaza Hotel is located just off Central Park (and conveniently across the street from FAO Schwarz) at One West 58th Street, New York, NY
